Transition: an artist residency at Maple Walk School |

with Green Cardamom and Noa Lidor
Transition is an artist residency consisting of a series of workshops with the children of Maple Walk School and the artist Noa Lidor examining the idea of transition in the lead up to and following their move to a new school building.
The children explored ways of capturing and recording memories of place, and investigating and getting to know a physical space through making art directly from and about their new school environment.
The workshops saw the children working in a variety of media and processes, including Mughal miniature painting, photography, collage, frottage and casting. Lidor and the children looked at works by artists from both Europe and South Asia in order to exemplify the different techniques explored in the workshops, and in keeping with Green Cardamom’s focus on international contemporary art from an Indian Ocean perspective.
The workshops resulted in an exhibition and a permanent installation artwork created by the children and the artist at the new school site.
Supported by the Friends of Maple Walk School.
