Nusra Latif Qureshi |
| |
Nusra is one of a group of artists trained at the National College of Arts, Lahore, who are attracting increasing critical interest as representing a contemporary movement in miniature painting. Nusra combines the images and practices of Mughal era miniature painting with contemporary techniques and archival imagery from the British Raj. While her work speaks of finely honed draftsmanship and a mastery of the miniature form, its content offers post-modern musings on feminism, imperialism and the manipulation of history and memory.
Nusra's work formed part of the Common Destination exhibition in 2006 at The Drawing Center, New York and was included in The 5th Asia Pacific Triennial, 2006 at Queensland Art Gallery, Australia, her work has been widely exhibited in the Asia Pacific region, Europe and North American, including exhibitions at the Honolulu Academy of Arts and The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in the US, Manchester Art Gallery in the UK, and Span Galleries and the Fremantle Arts Centre near Perth in Western Australia. Nusra lives and works in Melbourne.
